From Overlap.org Wiki
This is how you can upload content as an admin or editor (core) to Overlap.org.

HOWTO
"Write Post" Web Interface
So currently, anyone with editor or admin access may currently upload when writing a post. The problem is that it takes forever, there is a limit to how much you can upload, etc.

S/FTP Shortcut
Use an ftp/sftp client and use the sftp (sometimes called ssh or ssh2 mode) to upload into the folder in the home directory called uploads. This is a shortcut to the monthly folder created by wordpress.
S/FTP Direct
You could use ftp or sftp to upload to the directory where uploads are currently:
~/test.overlap.org/wp-content/uploads/2006/LATEST_MONTH
Organizer Plugin
I also installed a powerful plugin called organizer which lets us organize uploads, add other filetypes we might want to upload, rename, upload directly, etc, all from our admin wordpress interface.
Rationale
The reason we are going with this approach is that we want to make sure that we have content that is not just going into a big folder nor should we ever give out ftp-only access to anyone just to upload. Rather, we should have core members be the only uploaders.
Also, we want to make sure that we keep things in the proper monthly folders so we can organize content nice and pretty.
Also, please note that this shortcut folder, "uploads", is automatically linked to the latest upload yearly and monthly folder that is in the generic wordpress uploads folder.
