Overlap grows creativity and community through unique events and music releases.

Overlap was founded by Christopher Willits and the idea came to life with the help of friends -  Jon Phillips, Louis Rawlins, Simon Hampson, Kenric McDowell, Johann Bestowrous, Jordan Kushins, Ryan Kleeman, Lars Kim, and Chris Degiere.

Overlap Events
Overlap events showcase contemporary artists and media that covers a diverse spectrum of sounds and images. Overlap events are anchored in, though not limited to, the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City/Brooklyn. Over 20 different Overlap events have brought people together in the San Francisco Bay Area, New York, London, and Melbourne (see below, Overlap and LISTEN/VISION series). See the list of artists that have been involved.

LISTEN events
LISTEN is a unique series exploring the art of perception. It is a place and time for a shared experience of sound, energy and space. Overlap commissions new and *unreleased* sound recordings from an international pool of acclaimed contemporary artists. These exclusive pieces, not to be found anywhere on the web or a CD or vinyl, are presented in a comfortable listening environment.
LISTEN began as an Overlap event designed by Christopher Willits in 2005. After two successful years of audio only compositions, Overlap partnered with Volume Projects in 2007 to expand the series into audio-visual events called LISTEN/VISION.
If you are interested in syndicating LISTEN in your city, contact info@overlap.org . Past LISTEN events have featured unreleased audio compositions by : Carl Stone, Frank Bretschneider, Taylor Deupree, Kenneth Kirschner, Strategy, Kenric Mcdowell, Sebastien Roux, Christopher Willits, Richard Chartier, The Water, Greg Davis, Sawako, Gregg Kowalsky, Keiichi Sugimoto, and Christopher Willits + Ryuichi Sakamoto.
